Administration Turns to High Court Following Unsuccessful Bid to Block Snap Payment Order
This past Friday, shortly after a US appeals court determined that the administration needs to fully fund nutritional assistance payments, the federal government appealed to the nation's highest court in a further effort to halt the directive.
Within hours, the top US court released an urgent ruling temporarily blocking full Snap food aid payments, which close to 42 million Americans rely on to put food on the table.
“Legal counsel will not stop fighting, day and night, to protect and further our agenda,” the top legal officer stated on online platforms shortly after 9:30pm in Washington.
Government representatives had requested the US appeals court to overturn a judicial decision requiring them to issue this month's full monthly nutritional payments amid a US federal government shutdown, and had their request rejected later the same day.

The supreme court's ruling was issued after the government requested a national appeals court on Friday to halt a judge’s order mandating they issue this month's entire nutritional assistance during a government funding lapse.
Subsequent to that appeal to stop was denied, the White House turned to the high court in a new effort to block the order to completely finance nutrition assistance benefits.
