A 60-day journey circling Australia is being halted days after the death of an older female passenger who was left behind by the vessel on a distant island.

The passenger had been hiking on Lizard Island with other travelers from the Coral Adventurer, but separated from the party for a break. The liner left without her and went back later that day after the personnel became aware the passenger was missing.

A large-scale rescue mission found her remains the next day.

Investigative bodies are examining the tragedy, together with police and the state coroner.

Chief Executive of the voyage organizer stated that passengers and staff on the Coral Adventurer were notified that the remainder of the voyage had been terminated due to the "unfortunate death and previous mechanical issues".

Via official communication, he further stated that travelers would be issued a total repayment, and said the organization was working "to arrange the travel back of the travelers via specially arranged planes".

Officials also released an revised communication, and said they had "delivered a order to the Commander" banning any further travelers from getting on the ship.
